This is a guideline of steps to take before your wedding
6 MONTHS BEFORE: Pick up bride's
engagement ring from your jewelry store. Start making out your guest
list. Arrange visit with clergy judge, or justice of the peace to
discuss ceremony. If you're sharing wedding expenses, discuss with
your Fiancé, and all parents. Discuss with fiancé
number of ushers needed (one for every 50 guests.), and select them.
Discuss honeymoon plans with the fiancé, and visit with travel
agent for preliminary plans.
3 MONTHS BEFORE: Complete your
guest list. Visit Top Hat and order tuxedos for wedding party. Arrange
transportation (limousines) for wedding party to ceremony and reception.
Complete honeymoon plans: buy tickets. Order wedding rings. Arrange
to pay for bride's bouquet; order boutonnieres for men and corsages
for mothers. See your doctors for check-ups and blood test.
6-8 WEEKS BEFORE: Plan rehearsal
dinner with your parents. Arrange lodging for relatives and ushers
from out of town. Select gifts for bride ushers; make sure all legal,
medical and religious documents are in order. Pick up wedding rings,
check engraving.
2 WEEKS BEFORE: Make a date with
fiancé to get marriage license. Double check honeymoon reservations.
Arrange with best man for transportation from reception for you
and bride.
1 WEEK BEFORE: Remind the best
man and ushers of rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Explain to head
usher any special seating arrangements for family, disabled guests.
Purchase travelers checks. Give or attend bachelor party. Put clergy
or judge's fee in envelope for delivery after ceremony.
2 DAYS BEFORE: Go to Top Hat
with men in wedding party for pick-up and final fitting of tuxedos.
